Quito prophecy finds confirmation in latest message from Medjugorje

The most recent message from Medjugorje all but fulfills a nearly400-year-old prophecy allegedly granted to a nun in Quito, Ecuador.

As we have previously noted, verification of the event is difficult due tothe period of time and while we endeavor to learn more from authorities inSouth America and confirm what has already been reported (most recently in abooklet, "Our Lady of Good Success" by Dr. Marian Therese Horvat), there areseveral other matters to cover besides what we have mentioned in the firsttwo reports [click here for parts one and two].

It was on February 2, 1634 -- more precisely 367 years ago -- that a nunknown as Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres was praying before the BlessedSacrament when the perpetual lamp was suddenly and inexplicablyextinguished. The chapel became dark except for a heavenly light, in whichthe Virgin appeared with what is claimed to have been a stirring prophecy. These are the details we are seeking to confirm. Could the prophecy havebeen so accurate?

"The sanctuary lamp burning in front of the Prisoner of Love, which you sawgo out, has many meanings," said the Virgin, according to the translationreported in another book, The Last Secret. Faith would be graduallyextinguished in the twentieth century, the Virgin was said to have warned, until there was an almost total corruption of customs and rampant impurity. That's how the "demon" would take control. Many hearts consecrated to God inthe priestly and religious state would fall into lukewarmness, according tothe Horvat booklet -- which synopsizes an earlier 18th-century rendition ofthe Quito events and thus lends credibility to aspects of this dramaticprophecy.

At Medjugorje, in the last monthly message, on November 25 -- granted toseer Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti -- Our Blessed Mother indicates that this timehas been reached and warns that hatred and peacelessness have begun to reignin "this faithless world."

It was the strongest language used by the Virgin in a monthly message sincethe early the 1990s and brought to mind a special message last January (inwhich the Virgin of Medjugorje described Satan as "unchained") and earlierMedjugorje messages in which the Virgin said the twentieth century -- and ashort period beyond -- would be under the corruption of the devil. Sheseemed to indicate that the darkness symbolized in the extinguished lamp atQuito so many centuries before now "reigns over the whole world."

This parallels the Quito revelation, which warned that the "demon" wouldpersecute many priests and corrupt many others -- causing them to"scandalize the Christian people" and bring great suffering upon pastors.

There would be a great agitation of spirits. There would be rumblings.According to Dr. Horvat, the Virgin once dispelled the "infernal serpent"from persecuting Mother Mariana "with such a great roar that it caused theearth to tremble throughout the city and convent."

Such brings to mind recent articles we have carried on widespread reports ofstrange rumblings as spiritual war peaks in our own time and as we hear ofChristians of all denominations who are inexplicably awakening at 3 a.m. andfeeling the urge to pray.

It was 3 a.m. on January 11, 1611, that nuns at Mother Mariana's conventclaimed to have witnessed a huge miracle as the archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael appeared, along with Saint Francis, to help finish a statue Maryhad told Mother Mariana to have built and processed into the convent. "Atthat moment the holy statue took on life and intoned with the celestialchoir the Magnificat," according to the "Our Lady of Good Success" book.

And there was a final connection to Medjugorje. There, in 1981, it wasprophesied that after a century of evil, secrets would unfold that wouldbreak the power of evil and this too was said in the Quito revelation (whichwe will further report after we hear from bishops in Ecuador). Wheneverything seemed lost, Mother Mariana said the Virgin prophesied, it wouldactually be the beginning of a "happy restoration." "This will mark thearrival of my hour, when I, in a marvelous way, will dethrone the proud andcursed Satan, trampling him under my feet and fettering him in the infernalabyss," said the Virgin of Good Success ("good success" because in the endshe wins).
